OH DEAR...

Thu Jul 16, 2009, 10:19 PM
  • Mood: Obsessed
  • Listening to: Drops of Jupiter by Train
  • Reading: The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett
  • Drinking: water
Okay. So. I made a list of all my friends and, in my opinion, which Star Trek character they most closely reflect. If you want to know who I think you are, comment and I'll tell you, along with my reasoning. Yes.

*Vulcan peace sign* I like that better than Vulcan hand sign.

--

As most of you are aware, I am quickly becoming obsessed with Star Trek... okay okay, already obsessed. While this is fine (and most of you encourage it), I'm getting worried. Generally, when I get obsessed with something, my behavior gets... worse: around my family I get more withdrawn and reclusive, like the typical teenager, while around my friends I'm more hyper and erratic. Basicly, my demeanor moves to its extremes (naturally around my family, I'm very calm and content with just hanging out, and around my friends I'm always chipper and bouncy with energy). I'm just worried that my budding Trekky-ness will turn out to be just as destructive as all my other fixations, which always results on my isolating myself from the object of my obsession, and I really enjoy being a Trekky, so I don't want that to be the case. But the good thing is that I know what to expect, so I can reign it in when I feel I'm becoming to fixated on it... hopefully, anyway. Sorry this journal is a bit of a downer...

I wish I could be the purple balloon in my emoticon, but replace the orange balloon with Spock...

And since I'm listening to this song right now, I'll post the lyrics:

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey, hey, hey
hey, hey, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey, hey
mmmm.....
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey, hey, hey
yea...

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the milky way
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you, even when I know you're wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone
Conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the milky way

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the milky way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself

nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
nah nah nah nah nah nah nah

And did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day

nah nah nah nah nah nah
nah nah nah nah nah nah

And did you fall for a shooting star
Fall for a shooting star

nah nah nah nah nah nah
nah nah nah nah nah nah

Are you loney looking for yourself out there

Thanks so very much for the :+fav: :)

You're welcome!

I've never heard of Bethel.

It's a private university in St. Paul. Although it doesn't have the "old" buildings that I adore, it felt familiar and simple.
Huh. Cool.

I doubt that Bethel has astrophysics, though, but if you go to the U of M TC, it's generally nearby, and we could meet up sometime to go to The Purple Onion. Of course, go to whatever college YOU like. (By the way, I got this fun "periodic table" thing from Caltech. If they didn't send you one yet, I can give it to you. [I don't think Caltech is my thing.] It had a whole bunch of interesting facts in place of actual "elements." I thought you'd like this one: Students who go to Caltech are called "Techers" (pronounced Tek-erz).)
I want the... the... THING!! I want the thing!
